'Somewhere Back in Time' Concert DVD in the Works?

Posted Wednesday 19th March 2008

After the 16th of February, when the concert at the Messe in Tokyo was filmed, there have been rumours flying around the internet about the possibility of Iron Maiden producing a DVD (much like the 2005 Death on the Road release). Although this would not be suprising after many recent video launches from the band, we here at Maiden-World would say the most likely explanation for that at the current time would be for any special editions of the 'Somewhere Back in Time' album (such as the 2 Disc Picture CD) which would include a DVD with footage, although if the band believe it to be possible we may be seeing a new full length concert video commercially released, most likely towards the end of this year or Christmas time.

Of course we will keep you updated if there are any announcements regarding this possibility and as time goes by and the tour progresses, we will keep an eye out to see if any other dates are recorded in order for their footage to be included.

Canadian 'Somewhere Back in Time' Tour Dates Announced

Posted Tuesday 18th March 2008

During their concert on the 16th of March at a full house Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Iron Maiden announced another five dates to add to this year's world tour in that country, to the great enthusiasm of fans who attended the concert and those who couldn't get tickets alike.

For all of these shows, the tickets will go on sale at the same time, Friday the 28th of March, however as expected there will be a pre-sale available for those of you who are signed up to the IMFC (Iron Maiden Fan Club) meaning you can get your hands on them on the 25th instead, which is the Tuesday. All shows in Canada have the 'First to the Stage Barrier' which is early admission for a select group of people who will be allowed into the arena early in order to guarantee their place at the front of the crowd. These will be picked via a special draw before tickets are issued.

It should be noted that 'First to the Stage Barrier' tickets are also available for the 11th of June concert at Allstate Arena, Rosemont, Illinois as well as the 15th of June appearance at Madison Square Garden, New York.

Sony use 'Can I Play with Madness' in F1 Advertising

Posted Saturday 15th March 2008

Electronics and entertainment giant Sony are sponsoring this year's Formula One coverage in the UK on ITV and they have chosen the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son track Can I Play With Madness as the backing soundtrack to their promotional idents, played before and after each commercial break.

Not only is this a great opportunity for Maiden to appeal to new fans who will be curious about the song from the advert (a notable example of this happening was the Top 20 re-emergence of Phil Collins in 2007 after the chocolate company Cadburys placed one of his songs prominently in an advertising campaign). It will also attract press and fan attention to their World Tour this summer.
